Chattaroy is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mingo County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,136 at the 2000 census. The name "Chattaroy" has been recorded in several variations since 1775. It referred to the Big Sandy River and the Tutelo Native American tribe.
