Brazoria is a city of Brazoria County in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 2,787. Brazoria was originally founded as a port for Stephen F. Austin's colony. It had a population of 776 in 1950.
