William & Mary Law School

The Law School was founded in 1779, making it the first law school in the country. It is a part of the state-supported College of William & Mary. They offer a three-year J.D. degree program of full-time study and the joint degrees of Law and Master of Business Administration, Law and Master of Public Policy, and Law and Master of Arts in American Studies. The one-year Master of Laws (LL.M.) in the American Legal System provides advanced education for persons who received their legal training outside the U.S. and are interested in careers in legal practice or education, or who wish to increase their familiarity with the American legal system.
